āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, uddhambhÄgiyÄni saį¹yojanÄni. āMendicants, there are five higher fetters.

RÅ«parÄgo, arÅ«parÄgo, mÄno, uddhaccaį¹, avijjÄāDesire for rebirth in the realm of luminous form, desire for rebirth in the formless realm, conceit, restlessness, and ignorance.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcuddhambhÄgiyÄni saį¹yojanÄni. These are the five higher fetters.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ uddhambhÄgiyÄnaį¹ saį¹yojanÄnaį¹ abhiƱƱÄya pariƱƱÄya parikkhayÄya pahÄnÄya cattÄro iddhipÄdÄ bhÄvetabbÄ. The four bases of psychic power should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these five higher fetters.
