āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni bhÄvitÄni bahulÄ«katÄni ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄya saį¹vattanti. āMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements.
KatamÄni paƱca? What five?
Saddhindriyaį¹ ā¦peā¦ paƱƱindriyaį¹āThe faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyÄni bhÄvitÄni bahulÄ«katÄni ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄya saį¹vattantÄ«ti. When these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements.ā
PaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, indriyÄni bhÄvitÄni bahulÄ«katÄni saį¹yojanappahÄnÄya saį¹vattanti, anusayasamugghÄtÄya saį¹vattanti, addhÄnapariƱƱÄya saį¹vattanti, ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄya saį¹vattanti. āMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to giving up the fetters, uprooting the underlying tendencies, completely understanding the course of time, and ending the defilements.
