Āsavakkhayasutta Ending of Defilements

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattanti. ā€œMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Saddhindriyaṁ …pe… paƱƱindriyaṁ—The faculties of faith, energy, mindfulness, immersion, and wisdom.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcindriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattantÄ«ti. When these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to the ending of defilements.ā€

PaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, indriyāni bhāvitāni bahulÄ«katāni saṁyojanappahānāya saṁvattanti, anusayasamugghātāya saṁvattanti, addhānapariƱƱāya saṁvattanti, āsavānaṁ khayāya saṁvattanti. ā€œMendicants, when these five faculties are developed and cultivated they lead to giving up the fetters, uprooting the underlying tendencies, completely understanding the course of time, and ending the defilements.
