Daliddasutta Poor

ā€œā€˜Daliddo, daliddo’ti, bhante, vuccati. ā€œSir, they speak of someone who is ā€˜poor’.

Kittāvatā nu kho, bhante, ā€˜daliddo’ti vuccatÄ«ā€ti? How is a poor person defined?ā€

ā€œSattannaṁ kho, bhikkhu, bojjhaį¹…gānaṁ abhāvitattā abahulÄ«katattā ā€˜daliddo’ti vuccati. ā€œMendicant, they’re called poor because they haven’t developed and cultivated the seven awakening factors.

Katamesaṁ sattannaṁ? What seven?

Satisambojjhaį¹…gassa …pe… upekkhāsambojjhaį¹…gassa—The awakening factors of mindfulness, investigation of principles, energy, rapture, tranquility, immersion, and equanimity.

imesaṁ kho, bhikkhu, sattannaṁ bojjhaį¹…gānaṁ abhāvitattā abahulÄ«katattā ā€˜daliddo’ti vuccatÄ«ā€ti. They’re called poor because they haven’t developed and cultivated these seven awakening factors.ā€
