OrambhÄgiyasutta Lower Fetters
āPaƱcimÄni, bhikkhave, orambhÄgiyÄni saį¹yojanÄni. āMendicants, there are five lower fetters.
KatamÄni paƱca? What five?
SakkÄyadiį¹į¹hi, vicikicchÄ, sÄ«labbataparÄmÄso, kÄmacchando, byÄpÄdoāSubstantialist view, doubt, misapprehension of precepts and observances, sensual desire, and ill will.
imÄni kho, bhikkhave, paƱcorambhÄgiyÄni saį¹yojanÄni. These are the five lower fetters.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaį¹ orambhÄgiyÄnaį¹ saį¹yojanÄnaį¹ abhiƱƱÄya pariƱƱÄya parikkhayÄya pahÄnÄya ā¦peā¦ ayaį¹ ariyo aį¹į¹haį¹
giko maggo bhÄvetabboāti. The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these five lowers fetters.ā
