Ganthasutta Personal Ties
āCattÄrome, bhikkhave, ganthÄ. āMendicants, there are these four ties.
Katame cattÄro? What four?
AbhijjhÄ kÄyagantho, byÄpÄdo kÄyagantho, sÄ«labbataparÄmÄso kÄyagantho, idaį¹saccÄbhiniveso kÄyaganthoāThe personal ties to covetousness, ill will, misapprehension of precepts and observances, and the insistence that this is the only truth.
ime kho, bhikkhave, cattÄro ganthÄ. These are the four ties.
Imesaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, catunnaį¹ ganthÄnaį¹ abhiƱƱÄya pariƱƱÄya parikkhayÄya pahÄnÄya ā¦peā¦ ayaį¹ ariyo aį¹į¹haį¹
giko maggo bhÄvetabboāti. The noble eightfold path should be developed for the direct knowledge, complete understanding, finishing, and giving up of these four ties.ā
