ā€œSÅ«riyassa, bhikkhave, udayato etaṁ pubbaį¹…gamaṁ etaṁ pubbanimittaṁ, yadidaṁ—aruṇuggaṁ; ā€œMendicants, the dawn is the forerunner and precursor of the sunrise.

evameva kho, bhikkhave, bhikkhuno ariyassa aį¹­į¹­haį¹…gikassa maggassa uppādāya etaṁ pubbaį¹…gamaṁ etaṁ pubbanimittaṁ, yadidaṁ—sÄ«lasampadā. In the same way accomplishment in ethics is the forerunner and precursor of the noble eightfold path for a mendicant.
