Atha kho ÄyasmÄ anuruddho yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹

kamitvÄ ekamantaį¹ nisÄ«di. Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho ÄyasmÄ anuruddho bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Then Venerable Anuruddha went up to the Buddha, sat down to one side, and said to him:
āidhÄhaį¹, bhante, mÄtugÄmaį¹ passÄmi dibbena cakkhunÄ visuddhena atikkantamÄnusakena kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä apÄyaį¹ duggatiį¹ vinipÄtaį¹ nirayaį¹ upapajjantaį¹. āSometimes, sir, with my clairvoyance thatās purified and superhuman, I see that a femaleāwhen her body breaks up, after deathāis reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.

āPaƱcahi kho, anuruddha, dhammehi samannÄgato mÄtugÄmo kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä apÄyaį¹ duggatiį¹ vinipÄtaį¹ nirayaį¹ upapajjati. āAnuruddha, when females have five qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.

Assaddho ca hoti, ahiriko ca hoti, anottappÄ« ca hoti, kodhano ca hoti, duppaƱƱo ca hotiāTheyāre faithless, shameless, imprudent, irritable, and witless.
imehi kho, anuruddha, paƱcahi dhammehi samannÄgato mÄtugÄmo kÄyassa bhedÄ paraį¹ maraį¹Ä apÄyaį¹ duggatiį¹ vinipÄtaį¹ nirayaį¹ upapajjatÄ«āti. When females have these five qualities, when their body breaks up, after death, they are reborn in a place of loss, a bad place, the underworld, hell.ā
