Attānudiṭṭhipahānasutta Giving Up View of Self

Atha kho aƱƱataro bhikkhu …pe… Then a mendicant went up to the Buddha …

etadavoca: and said to him:

ā€œkathaṁ nu kho, bhante, jānato kathaṁ passato attānudiį¹­į¹­hi pahÄ«yatÄ«ā€ti? ā€œSir, how does one know and see so that view of self is given up?ā€

ā€œCakkhuṁ kho, bhikkhu, anattato jānato passato attānudiį¹­į¹­hi pahÄ«yati. ā€œMendicant, knowing and seeing the eye, sights, eye consciousness, and eye contact as not-self, view of self is given up. …

Rūpe anattato jānato passato attānudiṭṭhi pahīyati.

Cakkhuviññāṇaṁ anattato jānato passato attānudiį¹­į¹­hi pahÄ«yati.

Cakkhusamphassaṁ anattato jānato passato attānudiṭṭhi pahīyati.

And also knowing and seeing the pleasant, painful, or neutral feeling that arises conditioned by mind contact as not-self, view of self is given up.ā€
