āSanti, bhikkhave, cakkhuviƱƱeyyÄ rÅ«pÄ, iį¹į¹hÄ kantÄ manÄpÄ piyarÅ«pÄ kÄmÅ«pasaį¹hitÄ rajanÄ«yÄ. āMendicants, there are sights known by the eye, which are likable, desirable, agreeable, pleasant, sensual, and arousing.
TaƱce bhikkhu abhinandati abhivadati ajjhosÄya tiį¹į¹hatiāIf a mendicant approves, welcomes, and keeps clinging to them,
ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, bhikkhu baddho cakkhuviƱƱeyyesu rÅ«pesu, ÄvÄsagato mÄrassa, mÄrassa vasaį¹ gato, paį¹imukkassa mÄrapÄso. theyāre called a mendicant who is bound in sights known by the eye. Theyāre trapped in MÄraās lair, fallen under MÄraās sway, and caught in MÄraās snare.
Baddho so mÄrabandhanena yathÄkÄmakaraį¹Ä«yo pÄpimato ā¦peā¦. Theyāre bound by MÄraās bonds, and the Wicked One can do with them what he wants.
Santi, bhikkhave, jivhÄviƱƱeyyÄ rasÄ ā¦peā¦ There are sounds ā¦ smells ā¦ tastes ā¦ touches ā¦
