Ekamantaį¹ nisinno kho vacchagotto paribbÄjako bhagavantaį¹ etadavoca: Then the wanderer Vacchagotta said to the Buddha:
āko nu kho, bho gotama, hetu, ko paccayo, yÄnimÄni anekavihitÄni diį¹į¹higatÄni loke uppajjantiāāWhat is the cause, worthy Gotama, what is the reason why these various misconceptions arise in the world? That is:
sassato lokoti vÄ, asassato lokoti vÄ ā¦peā¦ the cosmos is eternal, or not eternal ā¦
neva hoti na na hoti tathÄgato paraį¹ maraį¹Äti vÄāti? after death, a realized one neither still exists nor no longer exists.ā
āVedanÄya kho, vaccha, aƱƱÄį¹Ä, vedanÄsamudaye aƱƱÄį¹Ä, vedanÄnirodhe aƱƱÄį¹Ä, vedanÄnirodhagÄminiyÄ paį¹ipadÄya aƱƱÄį¹Ä; āVaccha, it is because of not knowing feeling, its origin, its cessation, and the practice that leads to its cessation
