Chandappahānasutta Giving Up Desire

Sāvatthinidānaṁ. At Sāvatthī.

ā€œRÅ«pe, bhikkhave, yo chando yo rāgo yā nandÄ« yā taṇhā, taṁ pajahatha. ā€œMendicants, you should give up any desire, greed, relishing, and craving for form.

Evaṁ taṁ rÅ«paṁ pahÄ«naṁ bhavissati ucchinnamÅ«laṁ tālāvatthukataṁ anabhāvaį¹…kataṁ āyatiṁ anuppādadhammaṁ. Thus that form will be given up, cut off at the root, made like a palm stump, obliterated, and unable to arise in the future.
