Rādhasutta With Rādha

Sāvatthinidānaṁ. At Sāvatthī.

Atha kho āyasmā rādho yena bhagavā tenupasaį¹…kami; upasaį¹…kamitvā bhagavantaṁ etadavoca: Then Venerable Rādha went up to the Buddha … and asked him,

ā€œkathaṁ nu kho, bhante, jānato, kathaṁ passato imasmiƱca saviññāṇake kāye bahiddhā ca sabbanimittesu ahaį¹…kāramamaį¹…kāramānānusayā na hontÄ«ā€ti? ā€œSir, how does one know and see so that there’s no I-making, mine-making, or underlying tendency to conceit for this conscious body and all external stimuli?ā€

ā€œYaṁ kiƱci, rādha, rÅ«paṁ atÄ«tānāgatapaccuppannaṁ ajjhattaṁ vā bahiddhā vā oḷārikaṁ vā sukhumaṁ vā hÄ«naṁ vā paṇītaṁ vā yaṁ dÅ«re santike vā, sabbaṁ rÅ«paṁ: ā€˜netaṁ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti evametaṁ yathābhÅ«taṁ sammappaƱƱāya passati. ā€œRādha, one truly sees any kind of form at all—past, future, or present; internal or external; solid or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near: all form—with right understanding: ā€˜This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.’

Yā kāci vedanā … One truly sees any kind of feeling …

yā kāci saƱƱā … perception …

ye keci saį¹…khārā … choices …

yaṁ kiƱci viññāṇaṁ atÄ«tānāgatapaccuppannaṁ …pe… yaṁ dÅ«re santike vā, sabbaṁ viññāṇaṁ: ā€˜netaṁ mama, nesohamasmi, na meso attā’ti evametaṁ yathābhÅ«taṁ sammappaƱƱāya passati. consciousness at all—past, future, or present; internal or external; solid or subtle; inferior or superior; far or near: all consciousness—with right understanding: ā€˜This is not mine, I am not this, this is not my self.’

Evaṁ kho, rādha, jānato evaṁ passato imasmiƱca saviññāṇake kāye bahiddhā ca sabbanimittesu ahaį¹…kāramamaį¹…kāramānānusayā na hontÄ«ā€ti …pe… That’s how to know and see so that there’s no I-making, mine-making, or underlying tendency to conceit for this conscious body and all external stimuli.ā€ …

aññataro ca panāyasmā rādho arahataṁ ahosīti. And Venerable Rādha became one of the perfected.
