ā€œRÅ«passāhaṁ, bhikkhave, assādapariyesanaṁ acariṁ. ā€œMendicants, I went in search of form’s gratification,

Yo rūpassa assādo tadajjhagamaṁ. and I found it.

Yāvatā rÅ«passa assādo paƱƱāya me so sudiį¹­į¹­ho. I’ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of form’s gratification.

RÅ«passāhaṁ, bhikkhave, ādÄ«navapariyesanaṁ acariṁ. I went in search of form’s drawback,

Yo rūpassa ādīnavo tadajjhagamaṁ. and I found it.

Yāvatā rÅ«passa ādÄ«navo paƱƱāya me so sudiį¹­į¹­ho. I’ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of form’s drawback.

RÅ«passāhaṁ, bhikkhave, nissaraṇapariyesanaṁ acariṁ. I went in search of form’s escape,

Yaṁ rÅ«passa nissaraṇaṁ tadajjhagamaṁ. and I found it.

Yāvatā rÅ«passa nissaraṇaṁ paƱƱāya me taṁ sudiį¹­į¹­haṁ. I’ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of form’s escape.

Vedanāyāhaṁ, bhikkhave … I went in search of the gratification of feeling …

Yo viññāṇassa assādo tadajjhagamaṁ. and I found it.

Yāvatā viññāṇassa assādo paƱƱāya me so sudiį¹­į¹­ho. I’ve seen clearly with wisdom the full extent of consciousness’s gratification.

YāvakÄ«vaƱcāhaṁ, bhikkhave, imesaṁ paƱcannaṁ upādānakkhandhānaṁ assādaƱca assādato ādÄ«navaƱca ādÄ«navato nissaraṇaƱca nissaraṇato yathābhÅ«taṁ nābbhaƱƱāsiṁ …pe… As long as I didn’t truly understand these five grasping aggregates’ gratification, drawback, and escape for what they are, I didn’t announce my supreme perfect awakening …

ÑāṇaƱca pana me dassanaṁ udapādi: Knowledge and vision arose in me:

ā€˜akuppā me vimutti; ayamantimā jāti; natthi dāni punabbhavoā€™ā€ti. ā€˜My freedom is unshakable; this is my last rebirth; now there’ll be no more future lives.ā€™ā€
