SakkanÄmasutta Sakka In Name Only Yakkha SakkanÄmaka
Ekaį¹ samayaį¹ bhagavÄ rÄjagahe viharati gijjhakÅ«į¹e pabbate. At one time the Buddha was staying near RÄjagaha, on the Vultureās Peak Mountain. On one occasion the Blessed One was dwelling at RÄjagaha on Mount Vulture Peak.
Atha kho sakkanÄmako yakkho yena bhagavÄ tenupasaį¹
kami; upasaį¹
kamitvÄ bhagavantaį¹ gÄthÄya ajjhabhÄsi: Then a spirit who was Sakka in name only went up to the Buddha, and addressed him in verse: Then the yakkha SakkanÄmaka approached the Blessed One and addressed him in verse:
āSabbaganthappahÄ«nassa, āYouāve given up all ties, āHaving abandoned all the knots
vippamuttassa te sato; and are fully freed. As one fully released,
Samaį¹assa na taį¹ sÄdhu, Itās not a good idea for you, ascetic, It isnāt good for you, an ascetic,
yadaƱƱamanusÄsasÄ«āti. to be instructing others.ā To be instructing others.ā

Na tena hoti saį¹yutto, your compassion and empathy He does not become fettered
yÄnukampÄ anuddayÄāti. donāt create attachments.ā By his compassion and sympathy.ā
