Saṁyojanasutta Fetter Fetter

ā€œKiṁsu saṁyojano loko, ā€œWhat fetters the world? ā€œBy what is the world tightly fettered?

kiṁsu tassa vicāraṇaṁ; How does it travel about? What is its means of travelling about?

Kissassu vippahānena, With the giving up of what What is it that one must forsake

nibbānaṁ iti vuccatÄ«ā€ti. is extinguishment spoken of?ā€ In order to say, ā€˜Nibbāna’?ā€

ā€œNandÄ«saṁyojano loko, ā€œDelight fetters the world. ā€œThe world is tightly fettered by delight;

vitakkassa vicāraṇaṁ; It travels about by means of thought. Thought is its means of travelling about.

Taṇhāya vippahānena, With the giving up of craving Craving is what one must forsake

nibbānaṁ iti vuccatÄ«ā€ti. extinguishment is spoken of.ā€ In order to say, ā€˜Nibbāna. ā€™ā€
