Jarāsutta Old Age Old Age

“Kiṁsu yāva jarā sādhu, “What’s still good in old age? A devatā: “What is good until old age?

kiṁsu sādhu patiṭṭhitaṁ; What’s good when grounded? What is good when established?

Kiṁsu narānaṁ ratanaṁ, What is people’s treasure? What is the precious gem of humans?

kiṁsu corehi dūharan”ti. What’s hard for thieves to take?” What is hard for thieves to steal?”

“Sīlaṁ yāva jarā sādhu, “Ethics are still good in old age. The Blessed One: “Virtue is good until old age;

saddhā sādhu patiṭṭhitā; Faith is good when grounded. Faith is good when established;

Paññā narānaṁ ratanaṁ, Wisdom is people’s treasure. Wisdom is the precious gem of humans;

puññaṁ corehi dūharan”ti. Merit’s hard for thieves to take.” Merit is hard for thieves to steal. ”
