Arahantasutta A Perfected One The Arahant

ā€œYo hoti bhikkhu arahaṁ katāvÄ«, ā€œWhen a mendicant is perfected, proficient, ā€œIf a bhikkhu is an arahant,

Khīṇāsavo antimadehadhārÄ«; with defilements ended, bearing the final body: Consummate, with taints destroyed,

Ahaṁ vadāmÄ«tipi so vadeyya, would they say, ā€˜I speak’, Would he still say, ā€˜I speak’?

Mamaṁ vadantÄ«tipi so vadeyyÄā€ti. or even ā€˜they speak to me’?ā€ And would he say, ā€˜They speak to me’?ā€

Loke samaƱƱaṁ kusalo viditvā, Skillful, understanding the world’s labels, Skilful, knowing the world’s parlance,

Vohāramattena so vohareyyÄā€ti. they’d use these terms as mere expressions.ā€ He uses such terms as mere expressions. ā€

Mamaṁ vadantÄ«tipi so vadeyyÄā€ti. or even ā€˜they speak to me’?ā€ That he would say, ā€˜They speak to me’?ā€

ā€œPahÄ«namānassa na santi ganthā, ā€œSomeone who has given up conceit has no ties, ā€œNo knots exist for one with conceit abandoned;

Vidhūpitā mānaganthassa sabbe; the ties of conceit are all dissipated. For him all knots of conceit are consumed.

Sa vītivatto maññataṁ sumedho, Though that intelligent person has transcended conceiving, Though the wise one has transcended the conceived,
