RÄhulattheragÄthÄ RÄhula
āUbhayeneva sampanno, I am known as āFortunate RÄhulaā,
rÄhulabhaddoti maį¹ vidÅ«; because Iām accomplished in both ways:
YaƱcamhi putto buddhassa, I am the son of the Buddha,
yaƱca dhammesu cakkhumÄ. whose eye sees clearly in all things.
YaƱca me ÄsavÄ khÄ«į¹Ä, Since my defilements have ended,
yaƱca natthi punabbhavo; since there are no more future livesā
ArahÄ dakkhiį¹eyyomhi, Iām perfected, worthy of offerings,
tevijjo amataddaso. master of the three knowledges, seer of freedom from death.
KÄmandhÄ jÄlapacchannÄ, Blinded by sensual pleasures, trapped in a net,
taį¹hÄchÄdanachÄditÄ; they are smothered over by craving;
PamattabandhunÄ baddhÄ, bound by the kinsman of the negligent,
macchÄva kuminÄmukhe. like a fish caught in a funnel-net trap.
Taį¹ kÄmaį¹ ahamujjhitvÄ, Having thrown off those sensual pleasures,
chetvÄ mÄrassa bandhanaį¹; having cut MÄraās bond,
SamÅ«laį¹ taį¹hamabbuyha, and having plucked out craving, root and all:
sÄ«tibhÅ«tosmi nibbutoāti. Iām cooled, quenched.
