Ariyapaccorohaį¹Ä«sutta The Noble Descent
āAriyaį¹ vo, bhikkhave, paccorohaį¹iį¹ desessÄmi. āMendicants, I will teach you the noble descent.
Taį¹ suį¹Ätha, sÄdhukaį¹ manasi karotha, bhÄsissÄmÄ«āti. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteāti kho te bhikkhÅ« bhagavato paccassosuį¹. āYes, sir,ā they replied.
BhagavÄ etadavoca: The Buddha said this:
āKatamÄ ca, bhikkhave, ariyÄ paccorohaį¹Ä«? āAnd what, mendicants, is the noble descent?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako iti paį¹isaƱcikkhati: Itās when a noble disciple reflects:
āpÄį¹ÄtipÄtassa kho pÄpako vipÄkoāāKilling living creatures has a bad result
diį¹į¹he ceva dhamme abhisamparÄyaƱcÄāti. in the present life and in lives to come.ā
So iti paį¹isaį¹
khÄya pÄį¹ÄtipÄtaį¹ pajahati; Reflecting like this, they give up killing living creatures,
pÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ paccorohati. they descend from killing living creatures.
ā¦ āAdinnÄdÄnassa kho pÄpako vipÄkoāā¦ āStealing has a bad result
diį¹į¹he ceva dhamme abhisamparÄyaƱcÄāti. in the present life and in lives to come.ā
So iti paį¹isaį¹
khÄya adinnÄdÄnaį¹ pajahati; Reflecting like this, they give up stealing,
adinnÄdÄnÄ paccorohati. they descend from stealing.

abhijjhÄya paccorohati. they descend from covetousness.
ā¦ āByÄpÄdassa kho pÄpako vipÄko ā¦peā¦ ā¦ āIll will has a bad result ā¦ā ā¦
byÄpÄdÄ paccorohati. they descend from ill will.
ā¦ āMicchÄdiį¹į¹hiyÄ kho pÄpako vipÄko diį¹į¹he ceva dhamme abhisamparÄyaƱcÄāti. ā¦ āWrong view has a bad result both in the present life and in lives to come.ā
So iti paį¹isaį¹
khÄya micchÄdiį¹į¹hiį¹ pajahati; Reflecting like this, they give up wrong view,
micchÄdiį¹į¹hiyÄ paccorohati. they descend from wrong view.
Ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, ariyÄ paccorohaį¹Ä«āti. This is called the noble descent.ā
