āNavahi, bhikkhave, aį¹
gehi samannÄgataį¹ kulaį¹ anupagantvÄ vÄ nÄlaį¹ upagantuį¹, upagantvÄ vÄ nÄlaį¹ nisÄ«dituį¹. āMendicants, visiting a family with nine factors is not worthwhile, or if youāve already arrived, sitting down is not worthwhile.

Na manÄpena paccuį¹į¹henti, na manÄpena abhivÄdenti, na manÄpena Äsanaį¹ denti, santamassa pariguhanti, bahukampi thokaį¹ denti, paį¹Ä«tampi lÅ«khaį¹ denti, asakkaccaį¹ denti no sakkaccaį¹, na upanisÄ«danti dhammassavanÄya, bhÄsitamassa na sussÅ«santi. They donāt politely rise, bow, or offer a seat. They hide what they have. Even when they have much they give little. Even when they have fine things they give coarse things. They give carelessly, not carefully. They donāt sit nearby to listen to the teachings. When youāre speaking, they donāt listen well.
