āAį¹į¹hahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu Ähuneyyo hoti pÄhuneyyo dakkhiį¹eyyo aƱjalikaraį¹Ä«yo anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassa. āMendicants, a mendicant with eight qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu sÄ«lavÄ hoti ā¦peā¦ samÄdÄya sikkhati sikkhÄpadesu; Itās when a mendicant is ethical, restrained in the monastic code, conducting themselves well and resorting for alms in suitable places. Seeing danger in the slightest fault, they keep the rules theyāve undertaken.
bahussuto hoti ā¦peā¦ diį¹į¹hiyÄ suppaį¹ividdhÄ; Theyāre learned, remembering and keeping what theyāve learned. These teachings are good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, meaningful and well-phrased, describing a spiritual practice thatās totally full and pure. They are very learned in such teachings, remembering them, reciting them, mentally scrutinizing them, and comprehending them theoretically.
kalyÄį¹amitto hoti kalyÄį¹asahÄyo kalyÄį¹asampavaį¹
ko; They have good friends, companions, and associates.
sammÄdiį¹į¹hiko hoti, sammÄdassanena samannÄgato; They have right view, possessing right perspective.
catunnaį¹ jhÄnÄnaį¹ ÄbhicetasikÄnaį¹ diį¹į¹hadhammasukhavihÄrÄnaį¹ nikÄmalÄbhÄ« hoti akicchalÄbhÄ« akasiralÄbhÄ«; They get the four absorptionsāblissful meditations in this life that belong to the higher mindāwhen they want, without trouble or difficulty.
anekavihitaį¹ pubbenivÄsaį¹ anussarati, seyyathidaį¹āekampi jÄtiį¹ dvepi jÄtiyo ā¦peā¦ iti sÄkÄraį¹ sauddesaį¹ anekavihitaį¹ pubbenivÄsaį¹ anussarati; They recollect many kinds of past lives, with features and details.
dibbena cakkhunÄ visuddhena atikkantamÄnusakena ā¦peā¦ yathÄkammÅ«page satte pajÄnÄti; With clairvoyance that is purified and surpasses the human, they see how sentient beings are reborn according to their deeds.
ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄ ā¦peā¦ sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharati. They realize the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. And they live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements.
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, aį¹į¹hahi dhammehi samannÄgato bhikkhu Ähuneyyo hoti ā¦peā¦ anuttaraį¹ puƱƱakkhettaį¹ lokassÄāti. A mendicant with these eight qualities is worthy of offerings dedicated to the gods, worthy of hospitality, worthy of a religious donation, worthy of veneration with joined palms, and is the supreme field of merit for the world.ā
