SappurisadÄnasutta Gifts of a True Person
āAį¹į¹himÄni, bhikkhave, sappurisadÄnÄni. āMendicants, there are these eight gifts of a true person.
KatamÄni aį¹į¹ha? What eight?
Suciį¹ deti, paį¹Ä«taį¹ deti, kÄlena deti, kappiyaį¹ deti, viceyya deti, abhiį¹haį¹ deti, dadaį¹ cittaį¹ pasÄdeti, datvÄ attamano hoti. Their gift is pure, good quality, timely, appropriate, intelligent, and regular. While giving their heart is confident, and afterwards theyāre uplifted.
ImÄni kho, bhikkhave, aį¹į¹ha sappurisadÄnÄnÄ«ti. These are the eight gifts of a true person.
Suciį¹ paį¹Ä«taį¹ kÄlena, He gives pure, good quality, and timely gifts
kappiyaį¹ pÄnabhojanaį¹; of appropriate food and drinks
Abhiį¹haį¹ dadÄti dÄnaį¹, regularly to spiritual practitioners
sukhettesu brahmacÄrisu. who are fertile fields of merit.
Neva vippaį¹isÄrissa, They never regret
cajitvÄ Ämisaį¹ bahuį¹; giving away many things of the flesh.
Evaį¹ dinnÄni dÄnÄni, Discerning people praise
vaį¹į¹ayanti vipassino. giving such gifts.
Evaį¹ yajitvÄ medhÄvÄ«, An intelligent person sacrifices like this,
saddho muttena cetasÄ; faithful, with a mind of letting go.
AbyÄbajjhaį¹ sukhaį¹ lokaį¹, Such an astute person is reborn
paį¹įøito upapajjatÄ«āti. in a happy, pleasing world.ā
