āSattimÄni, bhikkhave, dhanÄni. āMendicants, there are these seven kinds of wealth.
KatamÄni satta? What seven?
SaddhÄdhanaį¹, sÄ«ladhanaį¹, hirÄ«dhanaį¹, ottappadhanaį¹, sutadhanaį¹, cÄgadhanaį¹, paƱƱÄdhanaį¹. The wealth of faith, ethics, conscience, prudence, learning, generosity, and wisdom.

Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako saddho hoti, saddahati tathÄgatassa bodhiį¹: Itās when a noble disciple has faith in the Realized Oneās awakening ā¦
āitipi so bhagavÄ arahaį¹ sammÄsambuddho ā¦peā¦ buddho bhagavÄāti.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, saddhÄdhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of faith.

Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako pÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ paį¹ivirato hoti ā¦peā¦ surÄmerayamajjapamÄdaį¹į¹hÄnÄ paį¹ivirato hoti. Itās when a noble disciple doesnāt kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, use speech thatās false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical, or consume beer, wine, and liquor intoxicants.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, sÄ«ladhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of ethical conduct.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, hirÄ«dhanaį¹? And what is the wealth of conscience?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako hirÄ«mÄ hoti, hirÄ«yati kÄyaduccaritena vacÄ«duccaritena manoduccaritena, hirÄ«yati pÄpakÄnaį¹ akusalÄnaį¹ dhammÄnaį¹ samÄpattiyÄ. Itās when a noble disciple has a conscience. Theyāre conscientious about bad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind, and conscientious about having any bad, unskillful qualities.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, hirÄ«dhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of conscience.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, ottappadhanaį¹? And what is the wealth of prudence?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako ottappÄ« hoti, ottappati kÄyaduccaritena vacÄ«duccaritena manoduccaritena, ottappati pÄpakÄnaį¹ akusalÄnaį¹ dhammÄnaį¹ samÄpattiyÄ. Itās when a noble disciple is prudent. Theyāre prudent when it comes to bad conduct by way of body, speech, and mind, and prudent when it comes to the acquiring of any bad, unskillful qualities.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, ottappadhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of prudence.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, sutadhanaį¹? And what is the wealth of learning?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako bahussuto hoti sutadharo sutasannicayo. Ye te dhammÄ ÄdikalyÄį¹Ä majjhekalyÄį¹Ä pariyosÄnakalyÄį¹Ä sÄtthaį¹ sabyaƱjanaį¹ kevalaparipuį¹į¹aį¹ parisuddhaį¹ brahmacariyaį¹ abhivadanti. TathÄrÅ«pÄssa dhammÄ bahussutÄ honti dhÄtÄ vacasÄ paricitÄ manasÄnupekkhitÄ diį¹į¹hiyÄ suppaį¹ividdhÄ. Itās when a noble disciple is very learned, remembering and keeping what theyāve learned. These teachings are good in the beginning, good in the middle, and good in the end, meaningful and well-phrased, describing a spiritual practice thatās entirely full and pure. They are very learned in such teachings, remembering them, rehearsing them, mentally scrutinizing them, and comprehending them theoretically.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, sutadhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of learning.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, cÄgadhanaį¹? And what is the wealth of generosity?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako vigatamalamaccherena cetasÄ agÄraį¹ ajjhÄvasati muttacÄgo payatapÄį¹i vosaggarato yÄcayogo dÄnasaį¹vibhÄgarato. Itās when a noble disciple lives at home rid of the stain of stinginess, freely generous, open-handed, loving to let go, committed to charity, loving to give and to share.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, cÄgadhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of generosity.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, paƱƱÄdhanaį¹? And what is the wealth of wisdom?
Idha, bhikkhave, ariyasÄvako paƱƱavÄ hoti ā¦peā¦ sammÄ dukkhakkhayagÄminiyÄ. Itās when a noble disciple is wise. They have the wisdom of arising and passing away which is noble, penetrative, and leads to the complete ending of suffering.
Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, paƱƱÄdhanaį¹. This is called the wealth of wisdom.
ImÄni kho, bhikkhave, sattadhanÄnÄ«ti. These are the seven kinds of wealth.
SaddhÄdhanaį¹ sÄ«ladhanaį¹, Faith and ethical conduct are kinds of wealth,
hirÄ« ottappiyaį¹ dhanaį¹; as are conscience and prudence,
SutadhanaƱca cÄgo ca, learning and generosity,
paĆ±Ć±Ä ve sattamaį¹ dhanaį¹. and wisdom is the seventh kind of wealth.
Yassa ete dhanÄ atthi, When a woman or man
itthiyÄ purisassa vÄ; has these kinds of wealth,
Adaliddoti taį¹ Ähu, theyāre said to be prosperous,
amoghaį¹ tassa jÄ«vitaį¹. their life is not in vain.
TasmÄ saddhaƱca sÄ«laƱca, So let the wise devote themselves
pasÄdaį¹ dhammadassanaį¹; to faith, ethical behavior,
AnuyuƱjetha medhÄvÄ«, confidence, and insight into the teaching,
saraį¹ buddhÄna sÄsananāti. remembering the instructions of the Buddhas.ā
