PaƱcamacchariyasutta Five Kinds of Stinginess

ā€œPaƱcimāni, bhikkhave, macchariyāni. ā€œMendicants, there are these five kinds of stinginess.

Katamāni paƱca? What five?

Āvāsamacchariyaṁ, kulamacchariyaṁ, lābhamacchariyaṁ, vaṇṇamacchariyaṁ, dhammamacchariyaṁ—Stinginess with dwellings, families, material things, praise, and the teachings.

imāni kho, bhikkhave, paƱca macchariyāni. These are the five kinds of stinginess.

Imesaṁ kho, bhikkhave, paƱcannaṁ macchariyānaṁ etaṁ paį¹­ikuį¹­į¹­haṁ, yadidaṁ dhammamacchariyanā€ti. The most contemptible of these five kinds of stinginess is stinginess with the teachings.ā€
