āPaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato upÄsako yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ niraye. āMendicants, a lay follower with five qualities is cast down to hell.
Katamehi paƱcahi? What five?
PÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ« hoti ā¦peā¦ surÄmerayamajjapamÄdaį¹į¹hÄyÄ« hoti. They kill living creatures, steal, commit sexual misconduct, lie, and consume beer, wine, and liquor intoxicants.
Imehi kho, bhikkhave, paƱcahi dhammehi samannÄgato upÄsako yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ niraye. A lay follower with these five qualities is cast down to hell.
PaƱcahi, bhikkhave, dhammehi samannÄgato upÄsako yathÄbhataį¹ nikkhitto evaį¹ sagge. A lay follower with five qualities is raised up to heaven.
