āCattÄrimÄni, bhikkhave, kammÄni mayÄ sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ paveditÄni. āMendicants, I declare these four kinds of deeds, having realized them with my own insight.
KatamÄni cattÄri? What four?
Atthi, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ kaį¹haį¹ kaį¹havipÄkaį¹; There are dark deeds with dark results;
atthi, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ sukkaį¹ sukkavipÄkaį¹; bright deeds with bright results;
atthi, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ kaį¹hasukkaį¹ kaį¹hasukkavipÄkaį¹; dark and bright deeds with dark and bright results; and
atthi, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ akaį¹haasukkaį¹ akaį¹haasukkavipÄkaį¹ kammakkhayÄya saį¹vattati. neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ kaį¹haį¹ kaį¹havipÄkaį¹? And what are dark deeds with dark results?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekaccena mÄtÄ jÄ«vitÄ voropitÄ hoti, pitÄ jÄ«vitÄ voropito hoti, arahaį¹ jÄ«vitÄ voropito hoti, tathÄgatassa duį¹į¹hena cittena lohitaį¹ uppÄditaį¹ hoti, saį¹
gho bhinno hoti. Itās when someone murders their mother or father or a perfected one. They maliciously shed the blood of a Realized One. Or they cause a schism in the Saį¹

Idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ kaį¹haį¹ kaį¹havipÄkaį¹. These are called dark deeds with dark results.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ sukkaį¹ sukkavipÄkaį¹? And what are bright deeds with bright results?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco pÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ paį¹ivirato hoti, adinnÄdÄnÄ paį¹ivirato hoti, kÄmesumicchÄcÄrÄ paį¹ivirato hoti, musÄvÄdÄ paį¹ivirato hoti, pisuį¹Äya vÄcÄya paį¹ivirato hoti, pharusÄya vÄcÄya paį¹ivirato hoti, samphappalÄpÄ paį¹ivirato hoti, anabhijjhÄlu hoti, abyÄpannacitto hoti, sammÄdiį¹į¹hi hoti. Itās when someone doesnāt kill living creatures, steal, or commit sexual misconduct. They donāt use speech thatās false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. And theyāre content, kind-hearted, with right view.

Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco sabyÄbajjhampi abyÄbajjhampi kÄyasaį¹
khÄraį¹ abhisaį¹
kharoti ā¦peā¦ idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ kaį¹hasukkaį¹ kaį¹hasukkavipÄkaį¹. Itās when someone makes both hurtful and pleasing choices by way of body, speech, and mind. These are called dark and bright deeds with dark and bright results.
KatamaƱca, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ akaį¹haasukkaį¹ akaį¹haasukkavipÄkaį¹ kammakkhayÄya saį¹vattati? And what are neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds?
Tatra, bhikkhave, yamidaį¹ kammaį¹ kaį¹haį¹ kaį¹havipÄkaį¹ ā¦peā¦ idaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, kammaį¹ akaį¹haasukkaį¹ akaį¹haasukkavipÄkaį¹ kammakkhayÄya saį¹vattati. Itās the intention to give up dark deeds with dark results, bright deeds with bright results, and both dark and bright deeds with both dark and bright results. These are called neither dark nor bright deeds with neither dark nor bright results, which lead to the ending of deeds.
ImÄni kho, bhikkhave, cattÄri kammÄni mayÄ sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ paveditÄnÄ«āti. These are the four kinds of deeds that I declare, having realized them with my own insight.ā
