āPÄpaƱca vo, bhikkhave, desessÄmi, pÄpena pÄpataraƱca; āMendicants, I will teach you whoās bad and whoās worse,
kalyÄį¹aƱca, kalyÄį¹ena kalyÄį¹ataraƱca. Taį¹ suį¹Ätha ā¦peā¦. whoās good and whoās better.
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, pÄpo? And whoās bad?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco pÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ« hoti ā¦peā¦ micchÄdiį¹į¹hiko hoti. Itās someone who kills living creatures, steals, and commits sexual misconduct. They use speech thatās false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. And theyāre covetous, malicious, with wrong view.
Ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, pÄpo. This is called bad.
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, pÄpena pÄpataro? And whoās worse?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco attanÄ ca pÄį¹ÄtipÄtÄ« hoti, paraƱca pÄį¹ÄtipÄte samÄdapeti ā¦peā¦ attanÄ ca micchÄdiį¹į¹hiko hoti, paraƱca micchÄdiį¹į¹hiyÄ samÄdapeti. Itās someone who kills living creatures, steals, and commits sexual misconduct. They use speech thatās false, divisive, harsh, or nonsensical. Theyāre covetous, malicious, with wrong view. And they encourage others to do these things.
