gahasutta Inclusion
āCattÄrimÄni, bhikkhave, saį¹
gahavatthÅ«ni. āMendicants, there are these four ways of being inclusive.
KatamÄni cattÄri? What four?
DÄnaį¹, peyyavajjaį¹, atthacariyÄ, samÄnattatÄāGiving, kindly words, taking care, and equality.
ImÄni kho, bhikkhave, cattÄri saį¹
gahavatthūnīti. These are the four ways of being inclusive.
DÄnaƱca peyyavajjaƱca, Giving and kindly words,
atthacariyÄ ca yÄ idha; taking care here,
SamÄnattatÄ ca dhammesu, and treating equally in worldly conditions,
tattha tattha yathÄrahaį¹; as they deserve in each case.
Ete kho saį¹
gahÄ loke, These ways of being inclusive in the world
rathassÄį¹Ä«va yÄyato. are like a moving chariotās linchpin.
Ete ca saį¹
gahÄ nÄssu, If there were no such ways of being inclusive,
na mÄtÄ puttakÄraį¹Ä; neither mother nor father
Labhetha mÄnaį¹ pÅ«jaį¹ vÄ, would be respected and honored
pitÄ vÄ puttakÄraį¹Ä. for what theyāve done for their children.
YasmÄ ca saį¹
gahÄ ete, But since these ways of being inclusive do exist,
samavekkhanti paį¹įøitÄ; the astute do regard them well,
TasmÄ mahattaį¹ papponti, so they achieve greatness
pÄsaį¹sÄ ca bhavanti teāti. and are praised.ā
