AssÄjÄnÄ«yasutta The Thoroughbred
āTayo ca, bhikkhave, bhadre assÄjÄnÄ«ye desessÄmi tayo ca bhadre purisÄjÄnÄ«ye. āMendicants, I will teach you the three fine thoroughbred horses, and the three fine thoroughbred people.
Taį¹ suį¹Ätha, sÄdhukaį¹ manasi karotha, bhÄsissÄmÄ«āti. Listen and apply your mind well, I will speak.ā
āEvaį¹, bhanteāti kho te bhikkhÅ« bhagavato paccassosuį¹. āYes, sir,ā they replied.
BhagavÄ etadavoca: The Buddha said this:
āKatame ca, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrÄ assÄjÄnÄ«yÄ? āWhat are the three fine thoroughbred horses?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekacco bhadro assÄjÄnÄ«yo ā¦peā¦ One fine thoroughbred horse ā¦
javasampanno ca hoti vaį¹į¹asampanno ca Ärohapariį¹Ähasampanno ca. is fast, beautiful, and well proportioned.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrÄ assÄjÄnÄ«yÄ. These are the three fine thoroughbred horses.
Katame ca, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrÄ purisÄjÄnÄ«yÄ? And what are the three fine thoroughbred people?

javasampanno ca hoti vaį¹į¹asampanno ca Ärohapariį¹Ähasampanno ca. is fast, beautiful, and well proportioned.

Idha, bhikkhave, bhikkhu ÄsavÄnaį¹ khayÄ anÄsavaį¹ cetovimuttiį¹ paƱƱÄvimuttiį¹ diį¹į¹heva dhamme sayaį¹ abhiĆ±Ć±Ä sacchikatvÄ upasampajja viharati. Itās when a mendicant realizes the undefiled freedom of heart and freedom by wisdom in this very life. And they live having realized it with their own insight due to the ending of defilements.
Idamassa javasmiį¹ vadÄmi. This is how theyāre fast, I say.
Abhidhamme kho pana abhivinaye paƱhaį¹ puį¹į¹ho vissajjeti, no saį¹sÄdeti. When asked a question about the teaching or training, they answer without faltering.
Idamassa vaį¹į¹asmiį¹ vadÄmi. This is how theyāre beautiful, I say.
LÄbhÄ« kho pana hoti cÄ«varapiį¹įøapÄtasenÄsanagilÄnappaccayabhesajjaparikkhÄrÄnaį¹. They receive robes, almsfood, lodgings, and medicines and supplies for the sick.
Idamassa Ärohapariį¹Ähasmiį¹ vadÄmi. This is how theyāre well proportioned, I say.
Evaį¹ kho, bhikkhave, bhadro purisÄjÄnÄ«yo javasampanno ca hoti vaį¹į¹asampanno ca Ärohapariį¹Ähasampanno ca. This is how a fine thoroughbred person is fast, beautiful, and well proportioned.
Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo bhadrÄ purisÄjÄnÄ«yÄāti. These are the three fine thoroughbred people.ā
