Andhasutta Blind
āTayome, bhikkhave, puggalÄ santo saį¹vijjamÄnÄ lokasmiį¹. āThese three people are found in the world.
Katame tayo? What three?
Andho, ekacakkhu, dvicakkhu. The blind, the one-eyed, and the two-eyed.
Katamo ca, bhikkhave, puggalo andho? Who is the blind person?
Idha, bhikkhave, ekaccassa puggalassa tathÄrÅ«paį¹ cakkhu na hoti yathÄrÅ«pena cakkhunÄ anadhigataį¹ vÄ bhogaį¹ adhigaccheyya adhigataį¹ vÄ bhogaį¹ phÄtiį¹ kareyya; Itās someone who doesnāt have the kind of vision thatās needed to acquire more wealth or to increase the wealth theyāve already acquired.
tathÄrÅ«pampissa cakkhu na hoti yathÄrÅ«pena cakkhunÄ kusalÄkusale dhamme jÄneyya, sÄvajjÄnavajje dhamme jÄneyya, hÄ«nappaį¹Ä«te dhamme jÄneyya, kaį¹hasukkasappaį¹ibhÄge dhamme jÄneyya. Nor do they have the kind of vision thatās needed to know the difference between qualities that are skillful and unskillful, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, and those on the side of dark and bright.
Ayaį¹ vuccati, bhikkhave, puggalo andho. This is called a blind person.

Ime kho, bhikkhave, tayo puggalÄ santo saį¹vijjamÄnÄ lokasminti. These are the three people found in the world.
Na ceva bhogÄ tathÄrÅ«pÄ, Neither suitable wealth,
na ca puƱƱÄni kubbati; nor merit do they make.
Ubhayattha kaliggÄho, They hold a losing hand on both counts,
andhassa hatacakkhuno. those who are blind, with ruined eyes.
AthÄparÄyaį¹ akkhÄto, And now the one-eyed
Ekacakkhu ca puggalo; person is explained.
DhammÄdhammena saį¹hoso, By methods good and bad,
BhogÄni pariyesati. that devious person seeks wealth.
Theyyena kÅ«į¹akammena, Both by fraudulent, thieving deeds,
musÄvÄdena cÅ«bhayaį¹; and also by lies,
Kusalo hoti saį¹
ghÄtuį¹, the young manās skilled at piling up money,
kÄmabhogÄ« ca mÄnavo; and enjoying sensual pleasures.
Ito so nirayaį¹ gantvÄ, From here they go to hellā
ekacakkhu vihaƱƱati. the one-eyed person is ruined.
Dvicakkhu pana akkhÄto, And now the two-eyed is explained,
seį¹į¹ho purisapuggalo; the best individual.
Dhammaladdhehi bhogehi, Their wealth is earned legitimately,
uį¹į¹hÄnÄdhigataį¹ dhanaį¹. money acquired by their own hard work.
DadÄti seį¹į¹hasaį¹
kappo, They give with best of intentions,
abyaggamÄnaso naro; that peaceful-hearted person.
Upeti bhaddakaį¹ į¹hÄnaį¹, They go to a good place,
yattha gantvÄ na socati. where there is no sorrow.
AndhaƱca ekacakkhuƱca, The blind and the one-eyed,
ÄrakÄ parivajjaye; you should avoid from afar.
Dvicakkhuį¹ pana sevetha, But you should keep the two-eyed close,
seį¹į¹haį¹ purisapuggalanāti. the best individual.ā
