ā€œYassa kassaci, bhikkhave, mahāsamuddo cetasā phuį¹­o antogadhā tassa kunnadiyo yā kāci samuddaį¹…gamā; ā€œMendicants, anyone who brings into their mind the great ocean includes all of the streams that run into it.

evamevaṁ, bhikkhave, yassa kassaci kāyagatā sati bhāvitā bahulÄ«katā antogadhā tassa kusalā dhammā ye keci vijjābhāgiyÄā€ti. In the same way, anyone who has developed and cultivated mindfulness of the body includes all of the skillful qualities that play a part in realization.ā€

Imasmiṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme bhāvite bahulÄ«kate kāyopi passambhati, cittampi passambhati, vitakkavicārāpi vÅ«pasammanti, kevalāpi vijjābhāgiyā dhammā bhāvanāpāripÅ«riṁ gacchantÄ«ā€ti. When this one thing is developed and cultivated, the body and mind become tranquil, thinking and considering settle down, and all of the qualities that play a part in realization are fully developed.ā€

Imasmiṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme bhāvite bahulÄ«kate anuppannā ceva akusalā dhammā nuppajjanti, uppannā ca akusalā dhammā pahÄ«yantÄ«ā€ti. When this one thing is developed and cultivated, unskillful qualities do not arise, and, if they’ve already arisen, they are given up.ā€

ā€œEkadhamme, bhikkhave, bhāvite bahulÄ«kate avijjā pahÄ«yati … vijjā uppajjati … asmimāno pahÄ«yati … anusayā samugghātaṁ gacchanti … saṁyojanā pahÄ«yanti. ā€œWhen one thing, mendicants, is developed and cultivated, ignorance is given up … knowledge arises … the conceit ā€˜I am’ is given up … the underlying tendencies are uprooted … the fetters are given up.

Imasmiṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme bhāvite bahulÄ«kate avijjā pahÄ«yati … vijjā uppajjati … asmimāno pahÄ«yati … anusayā samugghātaṁ gacchanti … saṁyojanā pahÄ«yantÄ«ā€ti. When this one thing is developed and cultivated, ignorance is given up … knowledge arises … the conceit ā€˜I am’ is given up … the underlying tendencies are uprooted … the fetters are given up.ā€

Ayaṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekadhammo bhāvito bahulÄ«kato paƱƱāpabhedāya saṁvattati … anupādāparinibbānāya saṁvattatÄ«ā€ti. This one thing, mendicants, when developed and cultivated leads to demolition by wisdom … to extinguishment by not grasping.ā€

ā€œEkadhamme, bhikkhave, bhāvite bahulÄ«kate anekadhātupaį¹­ivedho hoti … nānādhātupaį¹­ivedho hoti … anekadhātupaį¹­isambhidā hoti. ā€œWhen one thing is developed and cultivated there is the penetration of many elements … the penetration of diverse elements … the analysis of many elements.

Imasmiṁ kho, bhikkhave, ekadhamme bhāvite bahulÄ«kate anekadhātupaį¹­ivedho hoti … nānādhātupaį¹­ivedho hoti … anekadhātupaį¹­isambhidā hotÄ«ā€ti. When this one thing is developed and cultivated there is the penetration of many elements … the penetration of diverse elements … the analysis of many elements.ā€
